Eustasio Zarraoa y Uriarte
Although born in Valladolid, his family moved shortly afterwards to Bilbao, where he witnessed the historicist and Nazarene movement of the end of the nineteenth century.
He studied at the School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving in Madrid.
His participation in the first edition of the Vizcaya Provincial Exhibition in 1882 earned him an honorific award. He was later present in the National Fine Arts Exhibitions of 1884 and 1887 with the works “Mendigo anciano” (Old Beggar), “Vista de Azcoitia” (View of Azcoitia), “Fidelidad de Colón” (Loyalty of Columbus) and “Glosa al episodio de Alonso de Vallejos y los grilletes” (Gloss to the Episode of Alonso de Vallejos and the Shackles).
